This is my fifth year teaching math at Evergreen Middle School and my twenty-first year of teaching. In August 2016, my husband and I relocated to Oregon from Virginia. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to live in the Pacific Northwest. We've already been exploring the coast, enjoying the local farmers markets, and taking advantage of some amazing views on nearby hikes.
I have experience teaching both elementary and middle school. I graduated from Knox College, a small liberal arts school in northern Illinois, with a degree in Education and French. I began my teaching career in the Peace Corps teaching health and hygiene in the rural highlands of Guatemala. I then got my masters degree from Teachers College Columbia University in Bilingual/ Bicultural Education. I taught two years in New York City before moving to Korea for a year to teach conversational English to middle school students on a Fulbright Scholarship. I moved to Virginia from Korea and spent eleven years teaching in Fairfax County, just miles away from Washington DC. In Virginia, I taught 5th grade and 8th grade physical science. When I moved to Oregon, I joined the Evergreen Middle School math team, and here I am!
I can't wait to meet all of you and look forward to working with you and your child this year!

I grew up in southern Illinois, just miles outside St. Louis. I am a huge St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan!

My husband and I are beekeepers! We kept two hives in our backyard in Virginia. In the three years we kept bees, we harvested more than 175 pounds of honey! We have continued beekeeping in Oregon.
